GUIDES & ANSWERS

Required capacity setup

Choose staffing markers or a numeric job custom field as the demand source.

How do you define required capacity for a job?

  1. Open Settings → Required Capacity.
  2. Choose Staffing markers to use Reserved requirement targets. If no reserved marker is present, a waitlist marker target can supply the marker-mode requirement. Presence and a zero target are different: zero does not switch to another marker kind.
  3. Alternatively choose Job custom field and select a numeric Job-level Required Capacity field. The field selector is disabled in marker mode. Save changes.

Can recurring visits have different capacity?

A Job custom field belongs to the parent Job. Every visit of that job uses the same value, including recurring occurrences and multi-visit one-off work.

Illustrative example: a recurring job says 2, but next week needs 3. This field still supplies 2 unless the job value changes; it does not represent an independent exception for that visit. Create or change fields in Jobber, then Refresh the dashboard and reselect if needed.

What happens when required capacity is missing?

A missing or zero effective numeric requirement uses Assigned Capacity as the fallback requirement and shows Required capacity missing. This warning is specific to numeric Job-field mode.

In marker mode, zero or absent demand also falls back to known Assigned Capacity. If neither staff nor capacity is assigned, the visit appears under Jobs without assigned staff or capacity and carries Nobody assigned.

A positive numeric requirement must be a whole number from 1 to 999; zero triggers fallback. Invalid numbers, incompatible/deleted fields and unknown contributions are incomplete data, not a silent zero.
